No, we use in house employees and some of whom have been working with us for over 15 years.

Do you require money up front?
We have never asked for one dime until the home owner is satisfied.

My roof is over ten years old can I repair it?
Generally, it is unwise to repair a roof older than ten years.  Most roofing companies that provide solid warranties will not issue a proposal to repair but every situation is different.  The act of repairing an older roof can exacerbate the roofing leak and lead to more problems.

The roofing company I am considering does not have valid insurance is this a big deal?
Yes, this is huge…without insurance you are responsible for the medical care of the workers if an accident arises and for any damage to your property.

How do I know if my roofers insurance is valid?
Always call the producers of his or her policy. The producers number is located at the top left of any insurance document.

What is a lien release and do I need one?
A lien release is a confirmation from the roofing company’s sub-contractor and material supplier that they have in fact paid them. This document needs to be notarized and issued from the sub-contractor and or material supplier at the completion of the project.

Do you provide a warranty for repairs and roofing projects?
Yes, we offer a one year warranty on all repair work and a 5 year on all new roofs.

Does Superior Roofing Company of Georgia have insurance and workers Compensation?
Yes, we carry general liability, automobile insurance and workers compensation. It is expensive, but if you care about your employees and your customers it is mandatory.

What does Superior Roofing Company of Georgia do if rain develops without warning?
First of all, each of our Project Managers carry lap tops with wireless board band connections for viewing weather radar. Secondly, we have enough tarps on hand to cover Turner field if necessary.

Does Superior Roofing Company of Georgia recommend adding a second layer of shingles?
No, not in the South. Adding a second layer adds un-needed weight to the foundation and also traps in moisture. Also, adding a second layer only saves money in the short term. Two layers of roofing are very expensive to remove when the inevitable roofing project arises.

Can Superior Roofing Company of Georgia provide an extended warranty for my roofing project?
Yes, we can offer an extended warranty at an added cost, which protects your roof up to 15 years.

Does the State of Georgia provide any requirements to become a roofing contractor?
No, unfortunately the state of Georgia only requires a business license.

How do I know that my roofing contractor is experienced?
Look for a national certification; we belong to the Master Elite Program offered by GAF.

Does Superior Roofing Company of Georgia provide financing?
Yes, we provide 180 days same as cash financing. We also offer 3 and 5 year financing programs.

Does Superior Roofing accept credit cards?
Yes, we accept everything but Diner’s card.

What is racking?
This is a practice used for installing 3-Tab shingles and it cannot be used to install Architectural shingles.

I have 1” x 6” decking on my home, is there anything I should do differently when I do my roofing project?
Yes, when the old roof is removed the 1” x 6” decking will lift off of the rafters and will need to be re-nailed using 8 penny ring shank nails. If this step is not followed you will be replacing your roof in 4-6 years.

Do I need to be concerned about the exhaust pipes for my HVAC system and hot water heater?  One roofer told me not to worry about this.
Be worried…a roofer should always make sure that the exhaust pipes are reconnected after roofing your home. They should also replace the roof jack, storm collar and caps for these systems.

Why can’t you put shingles on a shallow roof pitch?
Shingles are only effective in sheeting water. When a roof pitch becomes shallow water can go behind the shingle and cause a leak. If your roof pitch is less than 4:12 pitch use modified bitumen. Modified has sealed seams and can be applied to all pitches less than 4:12.

What is a 4:12 roof pitch?
4:12 refers to a roof that rises 4 inches to every 12 inches of travel.

What is modified Bitumen?
Modified Bitumen is a roofing product used for shallow pitched roofs. Modified has sealed seams and is the choice for any roof pitch 4:12 or less. Modified can be applied with a propane heated torch, with adhesive or cold process and mopped or using heated asphalts.

How do I know that I need to replace my roof?
If you roof is older than 15 years in Georgia it is always recommended to have a roofing professional inspect the system. Most people wait until they have a leak, which ends up costing them extra money in decking replacement and dry wall repair. Go to Key Danger Signals to find out more…
